Description

M57, known as the Ring Nebula, is a bipolar planetary nebula located about 2500 LY's away in the constellation Lyra. Its central disk has a dimension of 1.5x1 arcminutes and has an apparent magnitude of 8.8. The true shape of the nebula resembles an american football which we are viewing from around 30 degrees off its central axis. This image was taken on 4 consecutive nights in June of this year which is a rarity at my location.
