I've captured 12 hours of both Ha and Oiii filters this season, working with the Big Amateur Telescope Discord to collectively capture and share data on this target.
We all contribute stacks of exposures on certain targets and stack those stacks in software, combining the efforts of many to achieve wonderful images. We also have been imaging Hubble's Variable Nebula (NGC 2261) all of this season, capturing the light ripples from the variable star travelling across the nebula at the speed of light.
We have been waiting and imaging consistently to catch disturbances in the illuminated dust/gas clouds surrounding star R Monocerotis in NGC 2261, and to document such movements over time, however this activity has not occurred this season to the degree of past observations by other astronomers, who've inspired this task.
I've been working hard to optimise my imaging system and would really love to see people edit my data among that of other BAT members.
This image is a quick test edit of my contributions to the BAT while we target this awesome spot of the southern sky.
I'd also like to personally thank other BAT members who've contributed to this target! It's truly been a great experience collaborating with others, one member has contributed several hours from a C14 hyperstar from all the way up 54* North! I look forward to experimenting with the dataset over the coming months
