Description

Finally had another clear night (Christmas Eve) to finish this target which I started last week.  I have just under 9 hours on this very faint reflection nebula.  I captured this about a year ago with my 294 MC, but this time I noticed a couple of galaxies at the top of the image.  In doing a little research, NGC 1752 is about 147 million light years away, PGC 16607 just to the right of it is a 163 million light years away and PGC 16609 farther to the right is 489 million mile away (that is a distant galaxy, so cool that it can be captured with a little 81mm scope).  wow the plate solve finally finished and look at all those galaxies, pretty cool.  I do not remember seeing those in my image last year.

IC 2118 is an interstellar cloud of fine dust grains that is illuminated by supergaint Rigel and is about 900 light years away.  It get it blue color from Rigel and that the dust grains reflect blue light more efficiently than red.

So enjoy my present, Merry Christmas!!!!
