Description

The main aim of this image was to see whether it was possible to stitch together different shots with a DSLR in a seamless way and the outcome is definitely a yes, thanks to the PI's new PhotometricMosaic script. I always had issue with the standard mosaicking in PI but this script makes a breeze of the whole process. The only hitch is that you might have to re-flatten the background with DBE.

So, this image is composed of 3 different frames and their are sewn together as hinted by the black area to upper right. The original plan was to re-do the frames using the D5100 but a number of issues (both with the camera and with the weather) intervened and a second mosaic never materialised hence I'm pushing this one out although it is obvious that more exposure is needed to do a proper job. I guess this is where my 300mm Nikkor is going to come in. Next November, maybe.
