Description

IC 342, also known as Caldwell 5 is a spiral galaxy located in the constellation Camelopardalis, “the giraffe”. It was discovered by British astronomer William Frederick Denning in 1892 and is calculated 11 million light-years distance from Earth, containing 100 billion stars.

The Milky Way’s glowing gasses, dark obscuring cosmic dust, and bright stars along its’ disc, where it is in close proximity, makes it a challenge to see this galaxy, earning the title, “The Hidden Galaxy”.

Clear & dark skies!
