Description

I took advantage of a windless, moonless, and cloudless night to drag my gear up to the top of Haleakala.  This is one of the targets I grabbed with the remaining few hours of dark skies in the early AM (3.4 hours total integration).  This was my first time to image in a bortle 1 zone but what was icing on the cake was that at 10K ft, there was very little atmosphere to compete with.  The stars almost didn't flicker in the sky.  It was the best night I had ever experienced seeing wise.  The clear advantage being that I was able to grab so much detail with relatively little integration time.

I took advantage of those dark skies to capture the IFN for my first time.  What is interesting to me is the color I am seeing in the IFN itself.  It is typically grey/white in color and here I am seeing a tint of red and even some blue highlights.  I tried a few color calibration methods (Auto Color script and SPCC) to make sure it is not artificial.  There was some variation between them but in both cases there was the red/brown with blue highlights.

What are your thoughts on the color of the IFN in this image?
