Description

The Rosette Nebula (RN) is near the Monoceros region of the Milky Way. This nebula is an active star-forming region emitting Hydrogen Alpha and shows red light emission at 656.28nm wavelength; the light is emitted when Hydrogen gas is ionized due to radiation from young born stars resulting in one Hydrogen electron moving from a higher orbit level to a lower orbit level thereby losing energy in terms of red light emission at the said wavelength. RN is approximately 5000 light-years distant and about 30 light-years in diameter. RN looks like a star-studded jewel suspended deep in the sky.
