There are several nebulae in the constellation Auriga, but the most famous ones are IC 405 and NGC 1931¹²³.

IC 405, also known as the **Flaming Star Nebula** or Caldwell 31, is an emission and reflection nebula that surrounds the bluish star AE Aurigae¹². It is about 37 light years across and lies at a distance of about 1,500 light years from Earth¹². It is part of a large region of star formation and interstellar gas and dust that also includes IC 410 and IC 417¹². It has an apparent magnitude of **6.0** and can be seen with binoculars or a small telescope¹².

NGC 1931, also known as Sharpless 237, is a smaller emission and reflection nebula that contains a young star cluster¹³. It is sometimes called a \"miniature version of the Orion Nebula\" because it has some similar features, such as a small Trapezium-like system of stars in its center¹³. It is about 10 light years across and lies at a distance of about 7,000 light years from Earth¹³. It has an apparent magnitude of **10.1** and can be seen with a medium-sized telescope¹³.
