[EN] NGC 7023, also known as the Iris Nebula or Caldwell 4, is a wonderful example of an open star cluster associated with a reflection nebula. It is located in the constellation Cepheus. The Nebula is about 6 light years accross, and 1300 light years from earth. In the center of the Iris you will notice a massive, hot and 'young' star reflected in the nebula. Dark, obscuring clouds of dust and cold molecular gas are also present and lead the eye to see other convoluted and fantastic shapes.

The total exposure is more than 8 hours - taken over 3 (short) nights @ISO800 - 300 seconds/subframe. Post-processing in PixInsight and Topaz DeNoise AI

[NL] NGC 7023, ook bekend als de Irisnevel of Caldwell 4, is een prachtig voorbeeld van een open sterrenhoop vergezeld van een reflectienevel. Het object bevindt zich in het sterrenbeeld Cepheus. De nevel is ongeveer 6 lichtjaar in doorsnede en 1300 lichtjaar van de aarde verwijderd. In het centrum van de Iris zie je een massieve, hete en 'jonge' ster weerspiegeld in de nevel. Eveneens duidelijk te zien zijn donkere en verduisterende wolken van stof en koud moleculair gas.

Early dismissal Staff members have a lot of images to inspect on a daily basis, and they can dismiss images if they believe they don't meet the requirements for IOTD/TP selection. If an image is dismissed 5 times, it's removed from the process. This streamlines the process and ensures that any bias present in promotions could be overruled by other staff members.
