Description

First time that I have imaged this with my equipment upgrades over the last six months.  I think that if I orient the camera into more of a landscape mode, that I can also completely capture the running man.  The seeing conditions were not ideal and I might need some spacing.  It looks like the stars in the corner are elongated when you zoom.  The image was barely cropped.  Only enough as per recommendation of using DBE in Pixinsight.  This one also uses my recently installed ZWO EAF.  The HFR was around 6 and I have done better with a Baktinov mask.  Thinking the seeing impacted this.

Title: M42, better orientation

Description: 15x180s subs. EAF really helps. Also getting better with GHS in Pixinsight. Was pretty easy to bring out the dust lanes. I was unable to tone down the core. In PI, HDRMSLT usually helps but this time, it looked horrible. I am thinking perhaps that different parameter combinations might help. Nonetheless, pretty happy with this result.

Title: M42, more subs

Description: 40x180s subs. Was able to bring out more of the dust. Still issues with the core. I think that I am going to try shorter exposures. Thinking 30s or 60s stops. Still, a descent shot.

Title: M42 shorter exposures

Description: I tried 30s subs to see if I could expose the trapezium and was successful. You will need to zoom in to see it. Turns out that in Pixinsight HDRMSLT did the trick. I was prepared to go deeper but was not necessary.
