Description

NGC 891 and (apparently) nearby Abell 347.

From the side, NGC 891 is the twin of our Galaxy, with probably similar size and luminosity. There is also likely a central bar. NGC 891 is "only" a 30 Mlj from here.

In the background of many photos from 891 you often see (a part of) the galaxy cluster Abell 347, which is much farther at roughly 240 Mlj. Most notable members are NGC 906 (nice spiral), 910 (giant ellipse) and 898 (edge-on spiral).
