Description

NGC 371 and Friends in HOO

After seeing some cool images online of the various different nebulae in the Small Magellanic Cloud, I decided to try and have a crack at shooting some of them myself. This was shot over 3 nights, all of which were plagued with clouds, hence the low integration time. I used my ZWO ASI533MC Pro for the first night, and for the other two nights, I used my ZWO ASI183MC Pro. I also used my Optolong L-Ultimate on each night with my Askar 65PHQ.

Even after just under 4hrs of integration time, I still think that this is nowhere near enough to pull out some of the fainter nebulosity. I reckon if it wasn't for the clouds on those nights, I could have gotten at least 6-7 hours integration time. I may even end up shooting this region again whenever the next clear night is forecast, as it has been nothing but clouds, wind and rain for the past few weeks even though there is an El Nino in effect.

Although this image is still somewhat lackluster in terms of details and noise, I am happy with the results, although like I said, I would like to add more integration time to this project again soon.
