Description

IC342 is located close to the Galactic Equator and is not too easy to observe or to image - the galactic dust of the MilkyWay is very dense and makes it difficult to image. Therefore its color is not the normal one but rather brownish-reddish due to the dust in between. Its distance is - depending on the calculation mode somewhere between 7 and 12 Mio LJ and its diameter is estimated be between 60000 and 75000 LJ. It is a rather densly populated galaxy with about 100 Billion stars in its gravitational area.
The image is a composite of two sessions  - one with my Lacerta Newton + 2x extender and an ASI2600MC and the second one with the same telescope but only with a QHY163C. All resulting frames were strickly selected and in APP combined to one final image.

Just for fun and enjoyment - look at the most recently published image of IC342 taken by Euclid... phantastic!
