Description

This is my first attempt at the large, but faint Planetary Nebula known as Purgathofer-Weinberger 1 or PuWe1 for short.

I learned that its a relatively new discovery, thanks to the efforts of Austrian astronomers Alois Purgathofer and Ronald Weinberger, who spotted it in 1980, while scouring the Palomar Observatory Sky Survey. Although its faint, it is large and fairly close to us at some 1,300 light years away.

I didn't really have the focal length to do this one justice, but I like having fun and the challenge of shooting new objects, so I gave it a wee go with my remote rig in southern Spain.  Will need to revisit it with one of my bigger scopes, but happy at how it tuned out for a first try.
