Description

I ran an experiment with using Luminance, Red, Green and Blue filters where I captured the Luminance (entire visible light spectrum) with high resolution (1x1 binning) and the color filter subframes with 2x2 binning (1/2 resolution, more light per combined pixel). I tried short exposures to preserve as much of the bright core of the reflection nebula as possible. The luminance data was comprised of 30 and 60 second exposures and it turned out nicely with good detail. Due to a camera or image download and save problem, the 2x2 binned color images had odd artifacts. So, I beat on the color data in PixInsight and blurred it to produce the final image below. For future imaging, I will stick to full resolution 1x1 binning image capture.
