Description

I was looking for something different to image the other night, and found an interesting cluster of galaxies in Stellarium that fit nicely in the view of my RedCat 51. I struggled getting enough SNR and was fighting light dome glow the later into the night it went, but despite the image quality I love it...go many galaxies, so many countless stars and worlds.

NGC 1365, aka the Great Barred Spiral Galaxy, is located about 55 million LY away and is one of the best examples we have of barred spiral galaxies...recent observations indicate the Milky Way could be a similar barred spiral galaxy, which has renewed interest in study of NGC 1365.

The two brighter elliptical galaxies in the centre are NGC 1399 (largest one, 66 million LY away) and NGC 1404 (smaller, to the upper right of 1399, 60 million LY away). NGC 1399 serves as the central galaxy of the Fornax Cluster, which is the second largest cluster within 100 megaparsecs. Interestingly, although both 1399 and 1404 are rich in globular clusters, it is thought that 1399 has stolen many of 1404's clusters due to gravitational interactions.

I hope you enjoy! Not as much colour as usual, but all of the wonder
