Description

A jewel in our Milky Way.

The Trifid is an exceptionally beautiful "little" nebula that lies in one of the most dense sections of our galaxy. In the next few months it will once again begin to rise as we move from the galaxy-rich skies of early spring and into the milky way season of late spring and summer. The dark dust lanes that visually trisect it into 3 regions are what give this object its name and unique appearance.

This is data I captured last year, using my FLT132 refractor and ASI2600MM camera. I've been developing a few new processing skills and tricks so I wanted to try re-processing this one. Plus, I was getting a little tired of shooting galaxies

I've done about a 60% crop here from the original FOV in order to really show off the inner details of the nebula.

As usual, this image was captured from my backyard under the light polluted skies of Mississauga, Ontario.
