Description

Dear Friends,

this time a very small object. But one of the most specular ones: NGC 2685 - The Helix Galaxy.

The data was collected over two years in 9 nights. The  problem is, the galaxy is only visible a few hours in two months, since the house's roof covers the FOV. Even more painful was, that I had to throw away more than 50% of the raw data due to tube seeing, turbulences over the warm roof, chimneys, gradients or bad seeing. In the end, it could be better (BTW: I hate the processing of data), but at a certain point you have to say it is enough. Period - and here we are.

Please enjoy!
Rüdiger

Title: Overstretched LUM channel

Description: Based on the comments, I present also the overstretched LUM channel to make more details visible. It shows nicely, why it is called "Helix" Galaxy.
