M97 The Owl Nebula

This is the first light of my C11EdgeHD in Nicholas Observatory. I have two large OTA's that were not getting used. I built Nicholas Observatory to change that. After tweaking collimation and rebuilding the CGX-L last year, I am extremely happy with the mount and rig overall. The subs were taken at <.4as/px with a 50x200mm finder as a guide scope. I took 30 subs kept 25 of them at 300secs... I am happy with that ratio until I can get a OAG solution online. A few images back I had a bad experience with the LeXtreme filter and decided on a replacement for a dual band filter for OSC work. This is first light with the new 2" Antlia ALP-T 5nm filter.

This data set was collected with a 533mcPro. This is lightly cropped and with it so tight, the image did not have enough stars for Plate Solving and for a good AF run with SGP. So I decided to put a pin in this data set and will re-image this target again with the 2600mcPro and ALP-T for a wider field and to help the software... Only 2h 5m total but happy with the filter and look forward to doing this target again in the near future..,

Views by Submitters (available since September 19th, 2023) Every image is assigned to 50% of available Submitters. In the event that at least 80% of them don't view the image before its time in the IOTD/TP process expires, it's assigned to the other 50% of Submitters and the process begins anew.
