Description

Brief synopsis on my book.

"...I soon realised that even with basic equipment and a little practice, knowledge and time you can take incredible pictures of the universe, even from a heavily light polluted garden.  With an inexpensive beginner telescope you will clearly see some of the cloud-bands and moons of Jupiter, you also will see the beautiful rings of Saturn. With a modern mobile phone you can take wonderful pictures of the Moon in incredible detail. A telescope is a time machine, with your own eyes you can view galaxies as they were millions of years ago.

What better way to learn about the universe than to capture and view images you have taken of distant planets, nebulae and galaxies located at unfathomably large distances away from us? For me, taking pictures of the cosmos transports me away from work pressures and relentless bad news on the television, and puts everything in perspective.  I also explain why I believe we will never make contact with "aliens" from another planet.

The furthest galaxy I have successfully taken a picture of is around 500 million light-years away.  The light from that galaxy left before life began to crawl out of Earth's oceans, ending that journey on my camera sensor.  What a thought...."
