Description

This small planetary nebula is located 10000 light years away in the constellation of Orion at a declination of +12 degrees.  It is a magnitude 14 PN that spans 40 arc-seconds in our apparent view.  This corresponds to the common PN diameter of 2 light years.  The object is classified as part of the Haro planetary nebula catalog.

The nebula is primarily OIII but there is a rim of HII which is especially strong at the top.  The progenitor star is extremely bright.

A bright 11.5 magnitude orange carbon star, LEE 27, is visible towards the lower left corner of the image.
