Description

M83 (NGC 5236) is known as the Southern Pinwheel Galaxy and forms a nice counterpart to its northern namesake M101. M83 is an active starburst galaxy and shows numerous bright H2 regions in its spiral arms.

Data were collected over 5 clear nights from 3rd-9th April. Inclusion of H-alpha data in both luminosity and red channels helped to emphasise the H2 regions.
