M51 using OMC300 modified Mak-Cass from Orion Optics in the UK, with a 0.7x reducer. Astro cam was ZWO 6200MC. Guide scope was 50mm F4.8 and guide camera was ZWO ASI 120MM. Mount was a Losmandy G11 Gemini 1. I used Astrophotography Tools to control the imaging run.... especially the Point Craft/plate solving function. I had good weather and got 4 hours 4 minutes of 60 second subs. I suspect I will be able to longer subs in the future, but I'm still getting used to the setup. This imaging run was the best so far using this rig. My biggest problem was freeing up enough space on my laptop to process the subs in Sirl. Post-processing consisted of cropping, green noise removal, stretching, background extraction, mild unsharp masking and one pass of minimal star size reduction in ImagesPlus.

Title: M51 reprocessed with StarNet++ and gentler sharpening.

Description: This was a 4 hr exposure of M51 done July 3, 2022. I used my Kletzov Mak Cass variant made by Orion Optics. It has a 300mm aperture and has a native FL of f9. I used a 0.75x reducer made for RC telescopes by Apertura. I used a ZWO ASI 6200MC for imaging and a ZWO ASI120MM mini cam for guiding on an Orion 50mm F5 guide scope. My mount was a G11 Gemini 1. Stacking in Sirl. Post-processing in Sirl, StarNet++, GIMP, PS Elements and ImagesPlus.

Views by Submitters (available since September 19th, 2023) Every image is assigned to 50% of available Submitters. In the event that at least 80% of them don't view the image before its time in the IOTD/TP process expires, it's assigned to the other 50% of Submitters and the process begins anew.
Promotions by Submitters When 3 distinct Submitters promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for Top Pick status. This requirement, in addition to anonymization of images and distribution to only a subset of them, prevents biases and ensures that the best images are selected.
Promotions by Reviewers When 3 distinct Reviewers promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for IOTD status.
Early dismissal Staff members have a lot of images to inspect on a daily basis, and they can dismiss images if they believe they don't meet the requirements for IOTD/TP selection. If an image is dismissed 5 times, it's removed from the process. This streamlines the process and ensures that any bias present in promotions could be overruled by other staff members.
