Description

This bright galaxy was one of the first Seyfert galaxies identified. These galaxies feature a small, intensely bright nucleus, today known as an active galactic nucleus. Discovered by W. Herschel on February 6, 1788, it is one of the principal members of the Canes Venatici II cloud of galaxies. Type: SAB(rs)bc. Angular diameter: 5.2'x4.6'. Distance: 33mly. Diameter: 50000 ly.
