Description

A very small planetary nebula, NGC 3132 is bright and located in the constellation Vela at 2,000 light-years. A bit small for my 4 inch scope but wanted to go after this object for a while and with the ASI294MM at bin 1 (8288 x 5644 and pixel of 2.3um) decided to go for it. The nebula is only slightly larger than Jupiter and its glowing rings give it the name of 8 Burst Nebula. The central star is now a hot white dwarf.

This is a crop of the full image only focusing in on the nebula.
