Description

NGC 3953 is a barred spiral galaxy located in the constellation Ursa Major at a distance of 56 million light years.. The galaxy is known to exhibit an inner ring structure that encircles the bar. The tightly wound spiral structure spans about 111,000 light years across.

NGC 3953 belongs to the Ursa Major North galaxy group, which consists of as many as 50 galaxies, including the dominant M109 (NGC 3992).

This is my first attempt on this galaxy.  Like with my image of M109,  I wanted to try and increase the scale so I shot this image using a 2x barlow.  Lot's more detail to be revealed in the galaxy,  but I think more aperture then I current have available will be needed to accomplish that goal!
