Description

The Elephant⁣

Located in the constellation Cepheus, this entire gaseous region is ionized by a massive star located slightly above the predominant trunk.⁣

We are star dust.⁣

—————————⁣

This image was created with data captured across 8 nights from May to June, 2022 using a 780mm refractor telescope and a cooled, monochrome camera with both narrowband and broadband filters.⁣

The narrow Hydrogen Alpha, Oxygen III and Sulphur II emission wavelengths are exceptionally strong in this region and I mapped the SHO colour palette to try and make something truly unique! The stars are true colour RGB blended in at the final stage of editing. I hope you like it!⁣
