Description

The run of clear skies has finally given me the chance to get a project done with enough time to do it justice.
This is the Seagull Nebula  in the constellation of Monoceros and located about 3600 light years away. My longest project to date, this image consists of 18 hours of imaging time with 6 hours across each filter (hydrogen alpha, sulphur II and oxygen III)
Seems like the processing took me as long as the imaging time but I was pleased with the results from this....for now!WBPP in Pixinsight. BXT applied to Ha layer only, NXT applied to Sii and Oiii. Stars removed and processed as a separate SHO layer and blended into the final image.
SHO starless image (combined on Photoshopd) processed in Pixinsight with selective colour masks and curves.
Final touches applied in Photoshop with Ha Luminosity layer and stars screen blended back in after size reduction and processing.
