Description

It has been a typical gray Midwest winter with some recent bitter cold.  I was concerned about opening the observatory with temps below 0F (-18C) since I had never tested the roof actuators in those conditions.   With a clear night in the forecast I had to come up with something so I put together a bit of a spare parts rig I could put on the patio.

The Uranus C is a planetary camera I had been using to play around with my little maksutov.  When paired with the Samyang 135 it's got a reasonable FOV so I gave it a shot and I was pleasantly surprised. The cold weather kept the sensor temp under -15C so the noise was very reasonable for an uncooled camera.
