Description

My second image with my new (old) camera, the Nikon 810a. Captured from my driveway. M42 has to be one of the most challenging images to edit in the sky. So much dynamic range from the bright core to the thin nebula regions in the outer sections. Present unique challenges to your editing skill, also require you to take multiple image exposure times. Then figuring out how to composite those different exposure times into a final image. I always check out how other people have processed their objects to give me a starting point. When you do a search on this object there are over 380 pages with 60 images on each page, and there are just as many editing possibilities as there are images that have been done. Guess mine will just be one more example.

Title: Re-Stacked in APP and Reprocessed

Description: Stacked in Astro Pixel Processor and then reprocessed in PixInsight and Photoshop. Not sure but I think Astro Pixel Processor brought out more nebulosity. Still had difficulty bringing out the blue nebulous regions in the running man nebula as well in the main part of the nebula, did do two additional layers in photoshop with stacks of shorter exposures to get some of the blue as well as the trapezium stars in the center, basically HDR, but I think the image might benefits from some data without the Triband filter and then both combined. Seems to overwhelm with Ha.
