Description

We have had a great run of weather over the last week, and so I have been slipping in a few NB frames at the end of every night on the Dragons of Nearly Norma.

Little more needs to be said about the Dragons/Rim Nebula/NGC6188, suffice to say it is one of the most photogenic targets in the night sky and is always fun to observe.  This is my first time at 640mm focal length.  The shorter focal length (also well matched to my seeing) reveals the broader nebular background laced with dark lanes.  It has the effect of framing the Dragons beautifully.  And it also enable me to capture the funky little nebula NGC6164/6165 - with its faint surrounding [OIII] shell.  The only challenge with the post-processing the DoA is exercising sufficient restraint in the pallet/detail.  I have avoided any sharpening, except  for initial Ha deconvolution, and I think the image looks better for it.

Description: I have struggled to post-process my Dragons SHO data to my satisfaction. Finally due to Russel Cronan's software and Bill Blanchard's scripts, I have finally come up with something I think is a significant improvement over my previous efforts. Now I just need to focus on increased SNR and getting better star shapes in 2023.
