Description

Many years ago while doing research on an article I wrote about Wolf Rayet stars, I discovered an amazing object that had been overlooked due to its location. It was so overlooked that the nebula doesn't appear in any catalogue as an independent object, Just its parent WR star. WR23 is an amazing WR bubble, bright and incredibly detailed. Had it been in another part of the sky on its own it would be considered one of the WOW objects. Unfortunately, it lies within the greater Eta Carina Complex and gets lost as an independent object. In the same field are several other beautiful deep sky wonders including one of the Gems (pun intended) of the Southern Skies.
Shot with the ASI2600MC camera on the 8" Skywatcher Quattro scope and driven on a Skywatcher EQ6-R. The ensemble was controlled by the ASIAIR Plus. The Optolong L Enhance filter was coupled with the Skywater Coma Corrector for the Quattro scope. This is a combination of 128 subs of 120s with 30 Bias, 30 Flats and 10 Darks. the processing was done in Piuxinsight and Photoshop.
