Description

The Heart Nebula (emission nebula IC 1805) has a rich central region of beautiful cloud structures of cosmic gas and dust. The structures are formed by stellar winds and radiation from massive young hot stars in the central star cluster, Melotte 15. The star cluster has sculpted the dust into the intricate branch-like structure that lies at the center of the nebula. This image includes emission from ionized hydrogen and oxygen atoms, mapped to green, red, and blue hues to mimic the Hubble Palette.
