My name is Kevin VanHooK and I work in aerospace quality engineering. I began my astrophotography (AP) journey back in the era of star hopping, manual guiding, hypersensitized films, darkrooms, and frostbite. I drifted away from AP for some years while I pursued other hobbies but I'm back now. OMG, how things have changed; it's a whole new world.
I own a Cave Astrola 10" F6 (for planet imaging), a Coronado SolarMax 70mm, a Astro Tech 115 F7 (for deep space imaging), a C5, a Comet Catcher, SkyWatcher Quattro 250P, C9.25 HD Edge, and a pair of 120mm binoculars. All scopes (minus the Cave and the binos) are mounted on an EQ-R Pro, and NINA, FireCapture, Pixinsight, and Affinity Photo 2 are my go-to software programs.
Some other hobbies include scuba (instructor), martial arts (instructor) music composition, camping & hiking, all the sciences, and history.
I look forward to getting to know the Astrobin community.
