M101, Pinwheel Galaxy A collection by ChrisPeace

I took this image over 7 sessions grabbing data where I could given the great British weather we have to suffer. Shooting with cold clear skies and no moon was the challenge given that the ASI224MC is a OSC and uncooled. Given it’s low magnitude it was not the easiest target to trial what is routinely a planetary camera. The final integration was 17hrs out of 31hrs captured.
Processing in PS CS2 was a real challenge whilst holding the core detail. It took several iterations with a good bit of advice from a friend to finally get this out.
The ASI224MC proved itself a capable DSO tool with short exposures and in cold weather. Keeping the noise down being the main focus throughout and hence the ruthless data chop. Hope you like my first post here and thanks for looking.
