Hi, Astrobin!
I'm Matej. Nice to meet you all! :)
I live in the heart of Europe, in a country named Slovakia. 🇸🇰
We have plenty of National Parks and PLAs and you can enjoy some of the best dark skies available in the whole Europe here!
One PLA that stands out the most is the Poloniny Dark Sky Park (cool name, dyt?). Skies there sit at number 2 on the Bortle scale.
(Not only) Slovak astronomers take great pride in this beautiful location! :)
When it comes to my personal experience with astrophotography, I've started taking pictures of our wonderful cosmos very recently - in 2020.
So, still learning, evolving my style and boy (!) enjoying it as nothing else.
(You've heard this a thousand times before, but) I was fascinated by space since I was a kid. I dove deep in books that showed constellations, planets, rockets and space probes. All that pictures and interesting facts ignited a passion that lasts to this day.
I still try to see my work through the optic of that little boy whose mind is hopelessly enthusiastic about everything space related. :)
It's a humbling experience when I process bits and pieces of our own galaxy or the distant brethren of ours travelling at impossible speeds through the dusty, cold vacuum. I love to imagine how enormously huge and far away they are from a human perspective.
Fortunately, I don't have to travel such distances to get to quite amazing skies. They're just hour away from where I live. I consider myself very lucky because of this and use the opportunity to shoot everytime all forecast apps at least partially agree that it's going to be a clear night.
So. You got this far. Why don't we help each other now to grow our accounts?
If you'll be kind enough to like my pictures, that are pleasing to your eyes, I'll repay you that favor! :)
And if you want to chat, add me on Instagram: @istmedonor!
Clear skies!
