I've been looking up all my life. Spent 22 years in the U.S. Navy, then 16 years working as a lab tech at an R&D facility. When the weather agrees, I'm gathering starlight at night. I live on the Gulf Coast and like to get on the water when I can, kayak or sailboat. Also enjoy my motorcycles and non-astro photography. Now that my kids are grown, my wife thinks I'm nuts.......but I still enjoy passing the time flying a kite.
Current astro assortment: C9.25 (fork mount), C8 (CG5), C8N (CG5), several Canon cameras and assorted lenses. The C8 has been with me for 38+ years and will go with me to the grave. The others I'm planning to sell and go with a 4 or 5 inch APO.
UPDATE 2017
Deforked the 9.25 and now use the base and tripod as a wide field camera platform. I use the other scopes on a CGEM but use the CG5 for public astronomy with my local group - it's more portable. Picked up a used ST120, with a field flattener and a four inch aperture restriction it's not too bad. A GSO Crayford was a significant improvement. Works well for narrowband and it rides quite well on the CGEM. I don't have the disposable income I once did, so I find I have to make do as well as I can.
