I've always loved looking at the night sky and I had a Simmons 60mm f/15 refractor as a child. I vividly remember getting a great look at the Hale-Bopp comet in the Mid-90's. Even through the crappy 0.965" H20 occular, I was amazed. I didn't truly learn how to use the scope until I grew up. The old refractor sat in my living room for years until one night I decided to take it out and see what I could do with it. That was the night I got my first view of Jupiter and its moons, through that same crappy H20! After that I was hooked, and in a short time I had upgraded to a 114mm Newt with some decent 1.25" eyepieces, and truly started to learn the craft.
I've learned a lot in the last few years, and have continued to improve both my equipment and my methods, but living in one of the most light polluted areas of Connecticut, it's not always easy to get good results. My current deep-sky imaging rig uses a SkyWatcher ED80/600 refractor and the Orion StarShoot G4 Monochrome CCD. Processing my images is my greatest challenge right now.
