I started Astrophotography in 2021 when I retired from the army and was looking for something to take up some time. My first rig was a Celestron SCT 9.25 with an EQ6R Pro and a ZWO 294MC. I struggled to get collimation and flat starts for about 2 years. I even sent it in to Celestron to be professional Collimated, but I still could not get a round star. As a last ditch effort to safe me from selling it I purchased the Starizona SCT corrector. Just like magic my field of view was Flat.
Along the way I decided I wanted to start shooting some of the Narrow band targets and I wanted a larger field of view. I picked up the 120ED From Skywatcher and was able for the first time to gather good data.
This allowed me to learn Post Processing. I purchased a copy of Pixinsite. With the help of Tegan from Hi-point scientific and a lot of you tube videos I developed a personal workflow that I am sonsistanly improving on as I learn.
Last winter I decided I wanted wider yet. I purchased my first fast astrograph with the release of the skywather Quattro 150P at about 500mm FL and f3.5 I started focusing on larger narrowband target. I purchased my first set of 3nm filter and the I was rained out. almost four months of clouds.... I guess its true what they say about ordering gear and bad weather. I'm looking forward to getting a lot of data in the fall after galaxy season.
I am excited to share my pictures with you all ag welcome any constructive criticism and feed back you can off. Good luck everyone and Clear Skies!
