The soul of an artist, the heart of a scientist
I have alway been fascinated by nature, science and photography. Soon I realised that if I want meaningful photos, then I should make them beautiful and educative / inspirational! What drives my passion in science and photography is that I can discuss it with other people with similar interests. So, please feel free to leave a note! Most of my photos are licensed under Creative Commons: If you want to use any photo of mine ask me for permission and it almost certainly will be allowed!
About my life and hobbies:
My interest in science started with astronomy. The night sky is truly beautiful. Everybody loves it! It's better than any human art. If we all spent more time looking up at the stars, our lives would be much different. I am amateur astronomer working in a local observatory and planetarium and a self-taught astro-photographer. When I got my first telescope I had to share the view with other people. Since then, I even capture the invisible. I am especially interested in planetary geology.
Geology helps us understand our own planet and other planetary bodies. When I started studying geology I was fascinated by rocks and fossils. I truly admired those who could read in them like in books. Fossils were the first strong support for evolution theory (before genetics was cool). Fossils are beautiful and common. I do have my own collection, but I am also involved in research. Fossils are important. I focus my studies on Jurassic fossils (especially ammonites) from Brno and surroundings. Paleontology means a lot to me.
My favorite part of meteorology is classification of clouds, storm spotting and atmospheric optics documentation. Each day, there is a brand new sky acting like a random generator. It is for free, all you have to do is to pay attention and if you'll be patient and keep looking up, once in a while you'll see amazing (and rare) stuff!
