I started this journey in the fall of 2019. I had moved to more rural area, and decided to buy a 10" Dobsonian telescope. I quickly realized I couldn't see the types of things I wanted to see, and started researching my options.
I purchased an Astro-tech 80mm triplet APO and already had a Canon T3i. I called that my learning setup, which I used for 3 months. I then purchased an ASI183mm Pro, with a full set of LRGB and narrowband filters. I then discovered that I enjoy narrowband processing more than anything else. I used a combination of PixInsight and Photoshop.
Coming into Galaxy season for 2021, I decided to try something with a little more focal length, and purchased a used 6" Ritchey-Chretien and sold my 80mm scope. I struggled with collimation and only finished 2 images with it, but didn't publish either of them due to bad collimation.
I purchased an Astro-tech 130EDT triplet APO in early of 2022. During the break, I cancelled my subscription to Photoshop. I have decided to give it a go using exclusively PixInsight, and my first image with that is my M101.
