I am the Telescope Scientist for the SOAR 4.1m telescope located at Cerro Pachón, Chile, next to the 8m Gemini South and Vera Rubin 6.5m telescopes (https://noirlab.edu/science/programs/ctio/telescopes/soar-telescope)
I do research on Star Formation in our Milky Way Galaxy, specifically on the mapping and characterization of stellar populations of young, low-mass pre-main sequence stars, also known as T Tauri stars, and the evolution of their protoplanetary discs. I am also interested in pre-main sequence binary and multiples systems. I have worked on large scale photometric surveys in nearby star-forming regions like Taurus and Orion.
On the technical side Iwork closely with several of the instruments installed on SOAR, mostly with the Goodman Optical spectrograph and the SAM Ground Layer Adaptive Optics System. I am the SOAR project scientist for the SOAR-Goodman spectroscopic data pipeline and the Astronomical Event Observatory Network (AEON - https://noirlab.edu/science/observing-noirlab/observing-ctio/observing-soar/aeon) on SOAR.
