I became interested in astronomy in 1965/66 and managed to persuade my dad to buy me a telescope, and then to trade it in for a bigger one: a 6" newtonian. That was a sort of standard at the time. I spent ages sketching lunar craters, but unfortunately most of these sketches are lost now. When I went to university in the early 70s astronomy was overtaken by other things and for me it lay dormant for almost 30 years until I became seriously interested again in the late 90's.

I lived in the Netherlands, one of the cloudiest and most light-polluted countries in Europe, so I take images in narrow band, and rather few of them. After retirement at the end of 2014 I moved to the dark-skies of southern France, with better weather (and better food!).
