Hi there!
I started astrophotography in March 2022 and I’m still looking for my favourite genre in the astrophotography. I love shooting landscapes and nightscapes, as well as digging into deep space objects, which is quite comprehensive and requires much more than just a wish.
I employed Sky Watcher Star Adventurer mount as a good choice of light and portable mount that allows me to start the hobby and exploring the beauty of the night sky.
I use my light yet powerful full frame Sony A7C camera. It looks like this is the least obvious choice for astroimaging, and I’m the only one on Astrobin with this camera. Wish me a good luck fighting against all the limitations of the camera and sensor.
I used to shoot with Sony lenses, GM range is great quality lenses, especially during daytime and other civil applications. Later, I got a vintage Canon FD 200mm manual lens, which is a beautiful piece of metal and glass, and the lightest 200mm lens I’ve seen.
After long time thinking and exploring the internet, I moved to William Optics RedCat 51 mk2. What a lens! What a picture!
At this stage, the next steps for me were to start guiding and eliminate tracking inaccuracy of my tracker to get longer exposure subs and higher keeper rate. Currently I have less than 50% on 120 second subs using 250mm lens.
In September 2022, I started with the new higher capacity mount and guiding addition to my rig. As the first light was lit on the sensor, I can happily confirm that the 5 minutes exposures are excellently handled by the setup and I’m going to push the bar higher and will check 10 and 15 minute exposures as soon as sky permits.
That’s it for now,
Thanks for reading,
Clear skies!
