Former high-energy astrophysicist working on neutron stars/pulsars using X to gamma-ray satellites. My goal was to uncover how physics works at extreme conditions like at extreme high magnetic fields. I am Dutch and moved to the San Francisco Bay area in 2009 to do research at Stanford which I did for five years. After that I co-founded my own startup HAL24K which is delivering tools to cities and companies to allow them to be more data driven. We are mostly interested in solving problems with forecasting algorithms. Goal of HAL24K is to keep cities livable in the future. When I started studying physics and astrophysics I pretty quickly lost my 'hobby' astronomy as I was working with it full time. Now I left academia behind it's time to take back up the hobby. I've always kept up wide field astrophotography and eclipse photography, but in the next year I will try to notch up my intermediate focal length astrophotography.
