An amateur astronomer, still persevering with my first serious telescope, a 1989 Meade 2080 LX5, lovingly restored, added ArgoNavis DSCs some years ago (Wildcard Innovations, NSW), and built an auto-guider using ST4 relay interface into hand controller, with home-made finder-guider. I also have a William Optics 80mm semi-apo refractor.
Novice astrophotographer using a Meade DSI III Pro mono CCD (modified this with a homemade TEC cooler), and newer Altair Hypercam 183 OSC CMOS with Envisage, Nebulosity and APT for image acquisition, and Startools to post-process my images. I recently added a Skywatcher Star Adventurer for a more portable 'get up if not a ‘goto' setup. I’m currently experimenting with a RPi4 computer running Stellarmate OS for image acquisition in the field.
I hope to show that good images can be taken with old / modest kit and a lot of perseverance; clear nights definitely help! In my mind astrophotography is as much about imagining as imaging. As the Psalmist reminds us "the heavens declare the glory of God".
