Description

In the last part of this clear window, I wanted to grab an image of this galaxy. To be honest, I wanted to wait till I had an SCT or something with a bit more reach before I went after it as the Esprit had it framed really small but the moon is up, very bright, and very close to the Leo Triplet so I went with this target instead.

I'm pretty happy with how the colors turned out here but I'll need to come back with more integration to further bring out the star streams being thrown off the merging pair. For the stars, when I used SXT to remove them it was great but when I used arcsinh to stretch the stars, they started to look pretty bad in my opinion. Maybe I'll need to gather some shorter subs for them. I'll experiment later on with this. This edit uses GHS for the whole image without removing the stars.

Processing steps:
  1. Stack in ASTAP with Flats, Darks, Flat Darks (I want to use WBPP or PixInsight stuff but for some reason it never calibrates correctly)
  2. Bring to PixInsight
  3. Dynamic Crop
  4. Gradient Correction
  5. Image Solver
  6. SPCC
  7. BlurXterminator Defaults
  8. NoiseXterminator 0.68 Denoise, 0.15 Detail
  9. GHS x2
  10. Linear Transform in GHS
  11. Range Selection M51
  12. Curves Transformation x2 Increase Saturation
