Description

Spaghetti Nebula, Sh2-240, in HOO

Throughout January I decided to really give my setup and skies a challenge and decided that challenge was the notoriously dim Sh2-240.

A supernova remnant showing overlapping Ha and O3 shells as the remaining gas from the long dead star ripple out in to space

I’ve tackled this before with a colour camera so I was aware of the Ha and how that might come out. I was not prepared for the minute levels of signal in O3 in all but the high signal peak area to the right side of the nebula in this orientation

A huge challenge that I’m glad is done, for now, but I think I can see myself adding to this image next year

A 1x2 panel mosaic consisting of a total of Ha 95x300s, O3 221x300s over 26 hours total. Stacked in APP, processed in PI and PS using StarNet and Russell Croman tools
