      Description

Been sitting on this for a few days and wanted to share it somewhere before the rest of social media! This is my 36-panel Cygnus mosaic finished. Very happy with the result, and currently moving on to a Cepheus mosaic. I wanted to figure out how little data I would need to produce a clean mosaic, with the power of f/3.6 Takahashi and the QHY600 it is not very much needed at all. Just a little over an hour per panel was needed for Cygnus, which is very bright. I will need much more exposure for Cepheus. Stitching was quite difficult, APP couldn't produce a good registration. So I stitched together every row in PI using photometric mosaic, and then stitched the rows in APP to produce a clean result.

The resulting image is about 450 megapixels, here it is downscaled to 8k which is 1/6 of its original resolution. Even the full-size image is downscaled 50% because my computer doesn't have enough ram to edit the full image which is 2 gigapixels in size. One day I'll upgrade my PC!

      Hope you all enjoy
