Description

Hello astrofriends! I am glad to present you the first light with my remote setup, IC 410 or The Tadpoles Nebula. I decided to install the 250mm ONTC Newtonian with the ASI 2600MM at E-Eye in Extremadura, Spain. All set up on the good and faithful Skywatcher AZEQ6 pro, pushed to its limits as usual. I will decide later if I'll replace with a more powerful mount. Cloudy skies were pretty common last year, so projects were tough to finish. Plus backyard astronomy is getting difficult to pair with my professional life. So I decided to experiment with a remote setup at E-Eye, near Sevilla. The skies are great and the team is really helpful. It's really a different experience from backyard installation, you learn new stuff, especially when things don't work. And as we all know, when something can go wrong, it will go wrong. The setup is not completely tuned, but its pretty close to how it should be.

I managed to finish this narrowband project, most of it around the Full Moon. The Tadpoles are situated at around 10,000 l.y. in Auriga and they are around 10 l.y. long, shaped by the stellar winds from the cluster.

The processing included good old HI-based Richardson Lucy deconvolution. I tested Bxt for star correction only and the last version considerably improved under this aspect, without peripheral artifacts. Normalize Scale Gradient was applied before integration, after I selected the best frames by eliminating the outliers from the distribution. Generalized hyperbolic stretch for moving to non-linear. The palette is classical SHO, with an adjusted luminance using the excellent SHO-AIP script from the AIP team; Deep SNR from Nikita Misiura for NR. Some faint details can be seen in the central nebula in the full resolution, an improvement over my previous backyard version with the refractor.

Acquired over 11 nights between January 28 and March 2nd 2023. Processed in Pixinsight, final touches in Photoshop.
